London Irish City Tour Planning

In honour of St Patricks day 2021 in lockdown London I’ve mapped out sites of irish interest in London City

They are mapped out in google my maps link: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1B-mEQlJsFKHW0TenUdP5h_uGMvhaRh&usp=sharing

For me at Patrick’s Day celebrations in Dublin being cancelled was the first big milestone of the covid response, and one year later it still feels significant.

Dealing with the troubles: there are no sites of IRA attacks on the route but it does go very close to.a number of them. Of you visit them please be respectful. While making this list I had lots of conversations about it

Overall map

Cycling Route

My first go at the route is to get to Ernest Shackleton (he went to Antarctica, you can go to Sydenham) & skip London Irish Rugby Club & Richmond stops (circa 45km extension) and London GAA (it’s isolated on the map and not a beautiful cycle)

I’m not too worried about the distance but going to skip London Irish Rugby and London GAA to keep it under 80km

Plaque: Michael Collins

Collins lived in West London with his sister Hannie for 9 and a half years. They were at this address (convenient for her job at the Post Office Savings Bank at the huge Blythe House, just down the road) from 1914 – 1916 when he, at least, moved to Dublin. It was during this time that he became a committed republican rebel.
